Amazon has chosen a location in Nashville to open a “last-mile” delivery station, Nashville Business Journal reports. According to Metro and state permits, Amazon is leasing about half of the building at 1641-1701 Lebanon Pike Circle for the new delivery station.
It is not clear at this time how many jobs may be based at the Lebanon Pike Circle building.
The new delivery station will be Amazon’s 16th distribution facility in Greater Nashville.
The new facility is about four miles east of downtown’s Nashville Yards development, home to an Amazon operations office hub.
According to Amazon’s website, delivery station buildings are where customer orders are prepared for last-mile delivery. These stations are essential to faster deliveries like the kind customers paying for Amazon’s same-day or Prime services expect. The final step before delivery is sorting packages into delivery routes.
When positions become available to fill for the delivery station, candidates must meet certain requirements before being considered for the jobs. For example, Amazon requires applicants wanting to work in delivery stations must be able to lift up to 49 pounds; stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, and reach during shifts; use carts, dollies, hand trucks, and other gear to move items around; go up and down stairs; as well as work at a height of up to 40 feet on a mezzanine.
Candidates must also be 18 years or older with the ability to understand and adhere to all job requirements and safety guidelines.

In those years, Amazon has contributed more than $530 billion to U.S. investments and has created more than 3.6 million jobs. Since 2010, Amazon has created over 25,000 full and part-time jobs in Tennessee with another 39,000 indirect jobs.
